Sonic youth jazzmaster
WebSonic Youth use jazzmasters, but keep in mind that they replace their pickups with humbuckers. That's a big part of why they use them over jags, the larger stock pickup size in a jm makes it much easier to add in a humbucker without having to route new space in the guitar. From what you've said, I think you'd be happier with a jazzmaster.
